A dark night of the soul, written as literature.
When Beatriz's hand slipped off the bed, Alejandro Torres judged death as a mere offense ready to yield to the weight of his fortune. He threw the flowers to the floor, smashed the phone out the window, and from the hospital room he salvaged only a porcelain doll wrapped in a note; his family's last attempt to convince her to hold on.
Two weeks later, an old friend of his father handed him a napkin, revealing a name, some coordinates and a warning: "Once you cross over, the rules of your God no longer apply." Alejandro accepted the price demanded to reclaim his wife's soul.
